My collar or leash got dirty and/or stinky. How do I clean it?
Just put it inside a tube sock and toss it in the washer on the cold setting. Hang it up to air dry, and it should be almost good as new.
Are your products ok to get wet?
Absolutely! We choose materials that are just as great wet as they are dry, so you can go everywhere with your best friend. Our products use top quality nylon webbing, solid brass hardware, and acetal hardware, so there’s nothing to rust or break down.
Aren’t Martingale Collars just for training or for sighthounds?
Nope. While it’s true that they are a more comfortable, safer training collar than traditional prong collars and slip collars, it’s actually our favorite collar for anytime you need a bit more control. The design makes it next to impossible for the collar to slip off the dog’s head and they also look great. They are not, however, intended for use while your dog is unattended or off leash.
Why shouldn't Martingale Collars be worn off leash or when unsupervised?
They are designed for on leash activities where the leash works with the extra loop on the collar to cinch it down around the dog’s neck. This allows better positive feedback with the dog to correct habits like pulling. It also keeps a dog securely in their collar by preventing them from slipping out of it when there is tension on the leash. However, the extra loop makes it slightly more risky when worn off leash because they cannot slip out of the collar should they get it caught on something. While off leash, our Snap Collar is a safer alternative.
Can your leash and/or collar be used as an unsupervised tie-down or stake-out?
Definitely not. Our products aren’t designed to be used in unsupervised situations. We make stuff for people that like to take their best friend everywhere. They are great to secure your dog to the leg of a picnic table while having a pint with human friends, but dogs should never be left unsupervised when wearing a collar and/or leash.
Can you make something custom for me?
We cannot make custom sizes or products, but we are happy to offer custom color combos for our Martingale Collar using our available colors. To choose your own colors follow the instructions here.
SIZING & FIT
How do your collars fit?
Our collars fit true to size. For example, our Medium (14” - 19”) collars can be adjusted from a minimum of 14 inches to a maximum of 19 inches. Due to the handmade nature of our products, this may vary slightly; typically by less than 1/2”.
How do I determine my dog’s collar size?
Using a cloth measuring tape or string and ruler, measure around your dog’s neck where the collar will sit. Add 1-2 inches to this measurement to get your dog's collar size. When the collar is on your dog it should be snug but allow enough space for you to slip two fingers between the collar and your dog's neck.
What if my dog’s collar falls in between sizes?
If your dog’s collar falls in between sizes, we recommend stepping up to the next largest size collar. For example, if your dog wears a 19” collar, we would recommend you go with a Large.
How do I properly fit a Martingale Collar?
When fitting our Martingale Collar, start by slipping it on over the dog’s head. Holding the collar at the top of your dog's neck behind the ears adjust the black plastic piece to ensure that when the limited cinch is pulled, the two brass loops are close but not touching.
How fast will I receive my product?
We typically fill orders in 2-3 business days. For a custom Martingale Collar color combo, please allow an additional week. Domestic orders are sent out for free via USPS, which takes 1-3 business days to most locations. Alternatively, UPS Ground and UPS 2nd Day Air are avaible for an additional cost. On average you will receive your product in about 4-6 business days for domestic orders. International orders are shipped out via USPS Priority Mail International (except Australia, Canada, and Mexico which also have a lower cost option for First Class International) which delivers to most locations in 6-10 business days. On average you will receive your product in about 9-13 business days for international orders.
Do you provide a tracking number?
Yes. Once your order has shipped, we will email you a tracking number.
Do you have expedited options?
Yes. UPS Ground and UPS 2nd Day Air are available for a non-refundable fee.
What if my product is damaged during shipping?
If your product is damaged upon arrival, please immediately email photos of the damage to email@example.com and we will contact you with instructions.
Do you ship to international customers?
We currently ship internationally to Australia, Canada, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, and most European countries. For all other international orders, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will do our best to add your country.
Can I return a product?
We accept returns on all purchases (except custom gear) provided you meet the criteria and follow the instructions found on our Shipping & Returns page.
Do your products come with a warranty?
